Domestic Violence Training

domestic violence trainingDomestic violence training is provided by the National Institute of Crime Prevention. The course is primarily aimed at Uniformed Officers, Supervisors, and Detectives, as well as Victim Advocates and Victim Service Providers.

The domestic violence training program is a dynamic multimedia presentation using Power Point, videos, and frank discussion to help participants understand how to better assist victims of domestic violence. We will look at the behavior of victims, abusers, and officers. We will teach you how you can reduce your domestic violence homicide rate with effective early intervention available for law enforcement officers, victim advocates, victim service providers and prosecutors through the National Institute of Crime Prevention. Our organization holds multiple domestic violence training conferences throughout the year in many locations throughout the United States.

Presenters

Sgt. William Rousseau has been a member of the Tampa Police Dept. in Tampa, Fl. for 25 years. He was the department's Domestic Violence Coordinator for six years and helped create and supervise the department's Sex Crimes Family Violence Unit. Bill is a nationally recognized expert in domestic violence. He teaches for Florida State University and the University of South Florida. He has received numerous awards for his work in domestic violence. Bill is the past Chairperson of the Hillsborough County Domestic Violence Fatality Review Team, and is the current President of the National Institute of Crime Prevention.

Capt. Rod Reder has been with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in Tampa Fl. for 28 years. He is currently assigned as a Uniform Deputy Commander. Rod was previously the Crimes Against Persons supervisor, and was the Domestic Violence Coordinator for the Sheriff's Office for seven years. He teaches for Florida State University, the University of South Florida and the U.S. Army. Rod is recognized nationwide as an expert in domestic violence by the U.S. Department of Defense and the U. S. Department of Justice. He has received numerous awards such as the Florida Governors "Peace at Home Award". Rod is the Vice President of the National Institute of Crime Prevention. Rod is a graduate of the 109th session of the Southern Police Institute, University of Louisville.
